UNVEILED
Marilyn Kyle

Marilyn Kyle is delighted to present a retrospective exhibition of her work. UNVEILED will include installations, sculptures and prints. Marilyn works in a range of media and uses different processes, depending on the demands of each project.
You can meet Marilyn at her PV on Saturday 30 May 12 – 2:30.
Marilyn will be in conversation on Wednesday 3 June 6:30 – 7:30. From 6 pm join us for refreshments and to view the exhibition before her talk. The Gallery closes promptly at 8pm.

Marilyn studied photography, film and video. Studying for a degree as an Art & Design teacher Marilyn gradually started to develop her work as a painter. Whilst teaching she had the opportunity to work with a master printmaker, and, thanks to that, extended her 2D work into printmaking, predominantly etching. An M.Ed in Art Education (Exeter) followed a few years later: a magical course spent working with other creatives: writers, musicians, dancers etc. Through this and around this time her approach came into sharper focus, it is the way which she has continued to work, whatever the medium.
Leading a large faculty of Art & Design, in the 1990s/2000’s, Marilyn studied for an M.A. in Fine Art (Wimbledon). At Wimbledon her tutor encouraged her to focus on print rather than paint which would allow the freedom to move around different subject areas. Taking up this freedom, Marilyn worked through photography, video, print and installation.
Her work is issues lead: a thought or idea emerging, then mulled over, for some time, before moving into materials and other forms of research. The emerging idea usually stems from personal experience or from an awareness of others’ experiences. Sometimes an object might trigger a piece of work. Although work might stem from a particular issue, Marilyn is keen that others should enjoy the visual and material aspects of a piece and bring their own experiences to it.
Marilyn has exhibited her work in the UK and abroad for over 30 years. Her work is held in private collections in the UK, Europe and the USA.
