PERSPECTIVES

Tova McKenzie-Bassant

31 March – 18 April 2026

PERSPECTIVES is a body of work consisting of 35 pieces to date.

For this exhibition, a selection of work has been chosen to focus on one of the main themes of the project – the existential journey of becoming. Tova has used collage as a strategy for imaging that which she believes lies at the core of human experience – the journey towards ourselves – and in this sense, Perspectives is still a work in the making.

Tova started the project in 2018, while struggling to find a meaningful artistic voice during a period of personal loss, just before the first lock-down. This work is the result of experimentation with colláge, and later photography, a process she describes as “raiding the larders of history, art and fashion, with an appreciation for the abundance, availability and plethora of readymade images circulating in the manufactured cultural world we have created,” and she especially enjoys recycling them in this way.

The exhibition will be on at Kaleidoscope for two weeks during April, when SVAF members and others will be able to visit and engage with the work. The

Private View  1 April 6 – 8pm and will include a short film and a Q&A with Tova.

All works in the exhibition are for sale.

Collage Workshops with Tova

7 and 8 April 10:30-12:30

Tova is offering two colláge workshops in the gallery alongside the exhibition (7th & 8th April 10:10 – 12:30pm). This will be an opportunity to experience Tova’s creative process, where the emphasis is not on the finished product, but rather, on the journey from somewhere to somewhere else, without the necessity of producing something ‘finished’. It is about making fresh connections, birthing new initiatives, spiking inquisitive exploration… For Tova, this way of working is a useful conduit through which to access ideas from untapped inner sources.

Places are limited to six per workshop and can be booked sevenoakskaleidoscope@gmail.com
