2026 is The National Year of Reading.
The aim is to inspire people to make reading a regular part of their lives, bringing their reading closer to culture.
As part of our contribution to the national year of reading Sevenoaks Visual Arts Forum SVAF in collaboration with Sevenoaks Library present Repositories: an exhibition to be found on the top of the library shelving throughout the fiction section.
New artwork has been created by 13 SVAF members in response to the concept and physicality of books. They have explored memories and ideas in specific books, discarded books and the book’s components. You will also find handmade artist’s books.

BOOK / TEXT / OBJECT
During February 2026 the Kaleidoscope Art Gallery on the 1st floor will be hosting an exhibition by the poet and artist Stephen Emmerson.
Book / Text / Object is an exhibition concerned with language, writing, the book as object, and its historical use as a repository for knowledge. Its aim is to offer visitors an alternative way of approaching books, text and poetry.
The National Year of Reading
A Department for Education initiative.
The National Year of Reading is being delivered by a group of literacy sector charities, and supported by Funders, Sponsors and Pledge Partners.
REPOSITORIES was extended to the end of March.
