Jane Cordery & Sue Evans are delighted to announce their upcoming exhibition ‘Untie Unite’, commencing on 29 October and running through to 15th November.
The exhibition will consist of paintings, sculptures and textile art. Their Private View will take place simultaneously with the SVAF November Meeting on 5th November.
Jane Cordery describes herself as a multi-media artist who is interested in human frailty and who works in drawing, painting and sculpture; she often uses repetitive processes to achieve her artistic outcomes. Initially reading History at Reading University she studied her Fine Art Degree as a mature student Under Kent University. Much of her work reflects her interest in the past, often paralleling events from today with occurrences from the past.
Sue Evans also studied Fine Art as a mature student. On graduation she became a founder member of SVAF and subsequently gained her MFA at West Dean. Sue experiments with and investigates the qualities of cloth, usually repurposed fabric, by layering, fraying, weaving and distressing to make surfaces on which to stitch. Images seek to provoke t whether they are forming, disintegrating, renewing or decaying.
Jane and Sue see their work as synonymous while retaining their own distinctive interpretations and styles. Both are currently undertaking the FAPD run by Sam Herbert in conjunction with the SVAF.

WHY?
Residency and Solo Show
19 November – 6 December 2025
I am delighted to announce my upcoming Solo Show & Residency in November at Kaleidoscope Gallery, Sevenoaks with call-out for collaborative work to include in an installation during the residency. Prep at home, collect from me or participate during the show.
WHY? It’s a small word with such potentially huge questions. We start out as children asking Why? Often over and over until we are as satisfied with the answers as we can be.
Now I feel most of my questions are not possible to answer, let alone solve, without universal and unilateral commitment. Unfortunately, I firmly believe this won’t happen, and certainly not, in my lifetime.
My WHY? will be with different perspectives and reasons to others but I hope it may still resonate and potentially provoke more questions WHY?
