Sheila Nash and Christine Highland
14 – 31 JANUARY 2026

Title: ‘Order and Chaos’
Theme: To divide the gallery space into two separate artists’ studios which will show diversity in art practice and our varying interests and styles.
Christine’s work is precise and structured (Order)
Sheila’s work is fluid unstructured and in her own words ‘messy’ (Chaos)
We think this will be enlightening for the public and an insight into understanding the variation in approach and styles/skills that inform an artist’s journey.
Proposed Display of Work:
We intend to use the divided gallery set up to recreate our personal studio spaces which apart from showing recent works and works in progress will include our past creative history.
We imagine the two spaces to be very different and feel they would engage the public in conversation which we are keen to do.

Christine Highland Statement
Christine is a Tonbridge based artist with an early career in the Architectural/Interior Design field. My signature work combines love of line and pattern.
A long time love of maps. I create stylised maps of real locations using pen and ink and my own freehand pattern designs and have undertaken many commissions.
I also enjoy working with colour and creating my own palette. My designs are contemporary and I am inspired by mid 20th Century design and artists, in particular
Those that work with pattern, colour and shape. This is expressed in my work as drawings and paintings in acrylic.

Sheila Nash Statement
I’ve discovered that working intuitively with lots of colour and textures of many different kinds is where my creativity has brought me in both my art and my ceramics. After a lifetime of global travelling, Sheila is now based in Tunbridge Wells.
