Sevenoaks Heritage Exhibition as part of the 50th Sevenoaks Summer Festival.

This community exhibition by the Sevenoaks Society is a stunning visual display of the 900 year history of Sevenoaks related through the medium of its heritage buildings, artefacts and iconic landmarks such as the Vine cricket ground.

Knole and the historic town centre, the old landed estates, farms, public houses, industry, schools, churches and the Town’s expansion following the arrival of the railway are all fully illustrated with photographs, paintings and original artwork.

Members of The Sevenoaks Society will be in the Gallery and happy to chat daily 10 -4 for the duration of the exhibition.

Bob Ogley talk on ‘Old Sevenoaks’

Bob Ogley was born in Sevenoaks, has lived in the county all his life and is proud to be a Kentish man. As author of more than 20 books he has travelled extensively in pursuit of information and photographs and is in great demand from organisations across the south-east to tell his unique story. A former editor of The Sevenoaks Chronicle, Bob was a journalist for more than 30 years before he left his newspaper to concentrate on writing books and giving his talks. He is also a regular broadcaster on BBC Radio Kent.

This will be invited dignitaries, Society members and schoolchildren from St Thomas School and Sevenoaks Prep School who have work in the exhibition.

Private View  Thursday 20thJune from 6pm with a talk by the National Trust at 6.45pm on its recent archaeological project at Knole. (Sevenoaks Society members and their guests only)

To accompany the  exhibition of the wide architectural and other built environment heritage of Sevenoaks District, the heritage exhibition book “Sevenoaks: A Remarkable Town” is now available to purchase – price £14.95 from Sevenoaks Bookshop.

Members can purchase direct from the Society at £10 per copy – the book will be available for sale at our meetings, at the Kaleidoscope Gallery exhibition and at our Charity Fair stall in The Vine Gardens on 29th June.
