The Ballard of Gibbet Hill Sarah Cliff Artist in Residence

Sarah Cliffe  Artist in Residence

The Ballard of Gibbet Hill

2 – 19 October

Sarah Cliff’s practice springs from an interest in the seductive influence of culture and power on history, expressed through the assemblage of objects, printed images and text.

The Ballad of Gibbet Hill, is an installation of prints, text and objects examining eighteenth century decadence, power and brutality. During the exhibition, Sarah will be on a three week residency at the gallery and museum, developing work from selected museum objects, and running printmaking activities, sponsored by Ochre Print Studio, Guildford.

Working in collaboration with the recently appointed Curator at Sevenoaks Museum, Liz Botterill, objects from the museum have been selected to form part of the installation. Using a small-scale printmaking facility, Sarah will produce and display new work that responds to these objects.

Drypoint printing in the gallery

Sarah will be in the gallery every Tuesday to Saturday. Visitors are welcome to make a small drypoint print in response to the installation which will form part of an evolving community work in the gallery.

Please check if Sarah will be around beforehand if you want to make a print, by email:  Sarah.cliff@ochreprintstudio.co.uk
